You may have seen Abke Haring's 'Wood', a performance that premiered in our Studio Theatre last season. The young writer, actress and actor-director studied acting at Studio Herman Teirlinck and in recent years has been associated with the Toneelhuis. Together with this partner organisation we will now be co-producing a new creation by her for the second year in a row. In her very distinctive performances she invariably creates atmospheres that are strange and insistent. Her favourite theme is the family, which she believes is dominated by suffocation and helplessness. This often results in very raw scenes, although poetry and even humour are never far away. Time and again she explores the boundaries of communication. In 'Wood' she asked the question 'what you do if you don't talk?' Or: 'how do you reach one another while silent?' In 'Flou' she explores these questions in greater depth. What is the balance between silence and the spoken word? And between choreography and conversation? She zooms in on two characters, one female and one male, two people who share a past that has not been dealt with. A dialogue. A duet. A duel.
