There is more than an abundance of male-voice choruses in Germany, but the Camerata Musica from Limburg an der Lahn is head and shoulders above them all. Springing from the Limburger Domsingknaben, this chorus has already taken numerous first prizes in international (Maasmechelen, 2007) and national chorus competitions (Deutscher Chorwettbewerb, 2010). The warm, homogeneous timbres of these young male voices breathe pure German Romantic. Christoph Prégardien - himself once a 'Limburger Domsingknabe' - blends wonderfully with the Camerata Musica.
Together, they perform gorgeous part-songs by Schubert. Stylistically, these songs are highly varied, ranging from 'feuchtfröhliche' (hilarious) drinking songs with a high 'conviviality' quotient to settings of high-minded poetical texts that match the emotional range of the songs for solo voice.
Directly after the concert, you can join us for an extensive interview with Christoph Prégardien, in which we talk about his musical preferences, look back at past concerts and discuss his plans for the future.
