Andrea Saemann works in Basel as a video, installation and performance artist, curator and teacher. Since 2002 she has been working on 'generation gap', a personal encounter with female pioneers of performance art from the seventies, comprising interviews, performances and events. Using her body in copies of historical performances, she creates a tension between self-determination and determination by others. By making copies she limits her sphere of action but also leads to unexpected insights.
For dedonderdagen Saemann will be giving two performances that are not lacking in humour. One is based on the work of the performance pioneer Carolee Schneemann, the other will be generated spontaneously on the spot.
