BOUGE B, a must for anyone who likes to make discoveries in the constantly changing world of dance and performance. Throughout these four days we shall be keeping our finger on the pulse and seeing what's brewing and evolving in studios in Belgium and abroad. The first three Bouge Bs brought together dance performers from every corner of the world. They descended on our Red Hall for a week. This fourth mini-festival promises a first: in addition to the large stage in the Red Hall, these artists will also take over the new Theatre and Music Studio. You will be able to see two separate performances on a single evening, divided between the building you already know and the new one.
A few weeks ago our halls were full of American stage talent. In the setting of 'New York' it was possible to see artists at the forefront of artistic innovation in that American metropolis. As an extension of this, during BOUGE B we shall be focusing especially on a number of young and talented American choreographers and dancers who have moved to Brussels: Tarek Halaby, Andros Zins-Browne, Eleanor Bauer and Daniel Linehan. All four left their home country to study at P.A.R.T.S. and all four stayed on in Belgium afterwards. Each of them now plays a part in the rich Belgian dance scene with their highly-acclaimed performances.
In addition you will also see the outstanding work of Yasmeen Godder and Maria Hassabi, who could not get to Belgium for the last BOUGE B because of the cloud of ash blocking the airspace.
But before you get to see all this, our Artiste Associé for this season, Christian Rizzo, will give the start signal. He will do this in a very special solo piece that he created for the excellent dancer Julie Guibert. After that Rizzo hands the stage to a young choreographer of his choice, David Wampach, who will make a humorous tribute to classical ballet. And then there are the 'Grand Tourists'!
Four days packed with discovery and adventure! 'B' there!
