'Curating the Campus' is a sculpture park in the making. Since 2001 we have offered a space to a leading artist whose work in one way or another enhances the mission or identity of deSingel.
In 2003 deSingel launched the 'Curating the Library' book and library project. Every month, two speakers - personalities from the worlds of art, science, design, music, literature and architecture - introduce their favourite books. The books and DVD recordings of the talks form part of an ever-expanding library, which is housed in a sculpture by the Belgian artist Richard Venlet (b. 1964, Hamilton, Australia). 'Untitled' (2002) is on the outside a mirrored volume whose measurements correspond to the artist's studio (283 x 408 x 303 cm). Venlet made the work for the twenty-fifth Sao Paulo Biennale in Brazil. His starting point was the creation of the spatial conditions for a wide variety of presentations.
In 2005 Venlet made a copy of 'Untitled', this time with its exterior in black. This volume houses the '35m³ young architecture' exhibitions.
