In 1981 he set up the Societas Raffaello Sanzio company in Cezena in Italy together with Chiara Guidi and Claudia Castellucci. To achieve the visual and acoustic richness of their creations they use both existing craft techniques and new technology. In their ritual and mythical theatre they put the accent on the significance of the body as a metaphor for the unconscious. The aim of their research into visual and acoustic perception is to examine the effects of new machines, and in fact they often want to invent new installations themselves. Their creations include 'Amleto' (1992), 'Oresteia' (1995), 'Giulio Cesare' (1997), 'Genesi, from the museum of sleep' (1999), 'Voyage au bout de la nuit' (1999) and 'Il Combattimento' (2000). Several productions by Romeo Castellucci and Societas Raffaello Sanzio have previously been shown at deSingel. They worked for three years on the 'Tragedia Endogonidia' cycle of performances, whose eleven parts were presented separately in ten European cities. Following on from 'B.#03 Berlin' last year, this May 'P.#06 Paris' will be on at deSingel.
