Expo
The exhibition space is the main centre of activities in the
architectural programme. This tall 'white cube' (5.7m) is a classic
neutral space that provides the optimal artistic and conservation
conditions for the exhibited material.
A small part of the Expo is more enclosed due to height
restrictions (2.4m). One of the high walls in the room is a double
wall. Both this false wall, which among other things can have
sections cut out of it, and the adjustable floor and ceiling offer
room for manoeuvre when designing and setting up exhibitions.
The views across and in the direction of the circulation areas
around the Expo guarantee contact with the surroundings.
The exhibitions occasionally dare to 'break out' and enter other
rooms at deSingel, but the Expo remains the main exhibition
area.
